Jason Painter

Jason was brought up on his family farm and has worked in the farming industry since leaving school. He worked as a general farm worker on a dairy, pig, and arable farm whilst attending Cannington College of Agriculture. Upon leaving agricultural college Jason worked as a herdsman on a 150 cow herd in the west country.

In the late 80s and early 90s Jason served as an engineer in the Royal Navy which has given him invaluable training in engineering practices and managing the risks associated with engineering work. It also taught him the skills to lead and manage a team in ship and shore environments.

After leaving the Navy Jason worked for a large agricultural contractors based in the west country undertaking a wide variety of tasks as well as providing engineering support during machinery breakdowns.

Jason then started a family and undertook the management of three dairy herds for a family farm before moving to north London to take on fresh challenges on a Government run mixed farm.

He has worked this dairy, arable and beef unit for a large regional park for over 20 years – he has managed the business since 2016. All the farming enterprises he manages are Red Tractor assured as well as undergoing the supplier audits required for a major milk buyer.

Health and safety, staff inductions, site management and training are all a part of his everyday working practices and he understands the importance of them for both employers and employees. The farming enterprises are continually audited by external specialists (on top of the Red Tractor and milk supplier audits) and the enterprise continue to attain high results under his management. As part of his role he is IOSH trained in safe management practices and is a member of IOSH.

Jason is currently a NFU Regional Representative for the dairy sector, did his agricultural degree when he was in his 40s and hates chocolate!
